Eduardo Yagües Nuño (Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. 1963) is the new Offensive Line Coach of the Barcelona Dragons for 2023.
The Mexican has a huge experience to his credit. He was the Offensive Line Coach at City College of San Francisco (CCFS) for the past 28 seasons. A trip that in which he bagged 9 Junior College National Championships. That has allowed him to be a mentor to countless young athletes who have gone to the next level.
But that is not all. As a player, Nuño played for Mater Dei/Marian High School in San Diego. As he is a natural from Tijuana, he had to cross the border every day to go to school and play football, until he got a scholarship to play at the University of Pacific (UOP) with the Tigers, where he was trained, among other things, by Pete Carroll, Mike Martz and Brad Seely. The Mexican was the leader of the team and obtained 4 university letters as a standout in the offensive line of the UOP. Additionally, he won the Red Buscher Award for Best Offensive Line.
“All my life I have dreamed of one day promoting the sport that I love so much and sharing what it has taught me throughout the world. I’m very grateful to have that opportunity, to be able to return to my grandfather’s country and make my dreams and aspirations come true”, said the Aztec after his signing became official. “There isn’t a day that I’m not excited by the great potential of American football in Spain and throughout Europe. The fire is coming!” concluded the coach.
Bart Iaccarino, General Manager of the franchise, also wanted to welcome Nuño: “It’s a pleasure and an honor to have Coach Nuño with us! We had been after him since the first season, but for one thing or another we couldn’t put all the pieces together. He’s, without a doubt, one of the best OL Coaches in the United States, you only have to see how many athletes leave his College each year for Division 1. We all know that games are won in the trenches and with Nuño we have acquired a fundamental piece for this 2023 season”.
